Thuy-Tien Thai LindsayTien is a Biologist with a M.S. in Biology from Utah State University. Tien has significant expertise is in bombiculture, field ecology, molecular genetics, and bumble bee overwintering biology.

Jessie RoughgardenJessie is an Ecologist and is pursuing her M.S. in Ecology at Utah State University. Jessie has ~10 years of experience in wildlife biology and worked with diverse organisms in diverse settings. In her graduate work, Jessie aims to use citizen science and natural history data to inform the management and conservation of imperiled bumble bees.

Soliam VelezSoliam "Soli" Velez is pursuing B.S. in Environmental Studies at Utah State University. Soli has a wealth of experience in bombiculture and field ecology techniques. Her professional goals including pursuing a career that supports her love of being outside. She is especially interested in exploring research opportunities. Soli is currently supporting a research initiative to use artificial intelligence and computer vision to achieve species identification.

Anne GillAnne is pursuing a B.S. in Entomology at The Ohio State University. Anne is skilled at bumble bee dissections, invertebrate (bumble bees and spiders) husbandry, and insect identification. Her career goals are to pursue a professional research career in Entomology. She's back at Ohio State, but will return to Logan to pursue her undergraduate thesis research in 2023!

Jesse Anjin TaborJesse completed his M.S. in Ecology at Utah State University in 2022. Jesse has expertise in species distribution modeling, GIS, UAS operations, and image classification. In his graduate work, Jesse applied high-resolution aerial drone imagery to quantify floral resource availability to wild and managed bees.

Carson LiesikCarson completed his B.S. in Wildlife Ecology and Management and minor in Fisheries Science from Utah State University. He brings a wealth of experience to the lab as he worked as a technician for the Utah Division of Wildlife, USU Ecology Center, and Utah State Parks. He aims to pursue a M.S. degree in Wildlife Science with the goal of achieving a career in a state or federal agency.

Alexandria FosterAlex is a biology educator who served as a biological science aide while pursuing graduate studies in Secondary Science Education at Utah State University. She received her B.S. in Biology from Juniata College in Pennsylvania. Alex is skilled at bombiculture, molecular techniques, and field ecology methods.

Qindasi SilvaQindasi completed her NSF-REU with the PIPES program in 2018. She studied the utility of non-lethal tissue collection from imperiled bees using experimental and DNA based approaches. She is well on her way to achieving a DVM at Tuskegee University! Photo by PIPES.

Rex HarveyRex joined the lab as a NASMP scholar. Rex participated in a pilot study examining the utility of iNaturalist in pollinator species identification and monitoring. Rex is pursuing his A.S. at the Utah State University Blanding Campus. After he completes his A.S., Rex aims to pursue a B.S. in Electrical Engineering at the Utah State University Logan campus.

Daniel Martinez Daniel served as an agricultural research assistant while pursuing degrees in Psychology, Mathematics, and Computer Science at the University of Hawai'i, Hilo in 2016. He is skilled at rearing a diversity of invasive fruit flies and processed specimens for image analysis. He currently is employed in the private sector.
